Businesses must receive a written statement from the recipient organization that states:
- A description of the donation and the date - this is all documented by Replate!
- A statement that the food was used with its intended purpose
- A statement that the organization is a 501(c)(3) and therefore exempt from Federal income tax
- A statement that supporting documents can be made available to the IRS by request
