What Steps Does Replate Take To Ensure Health & Safety Around Food Donations?
As a nonprofit tech company that engages in food recovery, we strive to recover food that improves the lives and communities we work with. To ensure we re-plate the healthiest and safest meals we:
Leverage dispatching and routing technology to transport meals from fridge-to-fridge as soon as possible, always in under two hours.
Ensure that our Food Rescuers are all food handling certified.
Ensure that the non-profit partners we work with have reheating and refrigeration capacity for donations. Additionally, we ask our non-profit partners to become food safety certified to provide a secondary safety net against food-borne illnesses.
Match donations to the best recipient based on their organization’s needs and preferences. For example, if our non-profit partner does not have refrigeration capacity, we will only bring them donations with dry goods & non perishables.
In sum, given the liability protection statutes and the health and safety precautions that we take to go above and beyond what is asked of us by law, concerns over liability should not prevent you from helping us make sure that everyone has access to nutritious meals.
